The PRIDE Parade was today. Alexis found out it was going to go past our apartment, so we decided to walk down. It was so interesting! The people were dressed in the most interesting ways. Definitely a sight to see! It is funny how I didn't think it was odd since I was in NY, if I saw this in STL I would definately think of it in a different way. I wish I had photos, but forgot my camera. =(

As we walked down it started to pour. They are doing a lot of work on the Empire State Building, so there were scaffoldings everywhere. Therefore, we could still watch and not get drenched. You would think the rain would literally bring down their parade, but it actually enhanced it. The parade participants were so enthusiastic and passionate, especially in the rain. Their enthusiasm radiated into the stands, it was sooo inspiring! Everyone was dancing like crazy and enjoying life to fullest. They seemed to be so happy to be who they are in life. If everyone felt that comfortable in their skin, this world would be a much better place to live.

After the parade I did some quick shopping. I have broken three pairs of shoes here. I didn't bring many to start with, so breaking three pairs is not that convenient. Luckily I found a pair of black pumps at Steve Maddens. I also happened to find a few outfits along the way at H&M :-|

While roaming about "the mall" around my apartment, I walked into Zara. I've seen so many bags, so I decided to check it out. They had a lot of cute clothes on sale. I found seven items I wanted to try on. I had to stand through a less than convenient line to the dressing room. Once I arrived to the front they told me I couldn't bring in more than six items which is completely understandable. She then went on to say that they do not hold onto sale items. I must have looked at her crazy because she got all snippy with me. I just couldn't understand why they wouldn't hold onto items. She "kindly" explained it was because they wanted to give everyone a chance to buy the sale items. I "kindly" wanted to tell her that they must be losing sales this way. Who in their right mind would want to go all the way back out into the store, find the piece back and then get back in line?!

I would like to know how is this concept affecting their sales. I guess it is the business student in me, but it does not make sense at al. The worse part about the whole story is that the item I put back was a pair of shorts that I took two sizes of. The ones i brought in with me were too big and the next size would have been perfect. They definately lost a sale there, I was too frustrated to go find them back. Sadly, as i walked out of the dressing room the other shorts were still sitting there....so much for their free-for-all sales concept. I will not be going back to this store regardless of the cute clothes.

Tonight is Sam's last night in NYC, so him and Andrew came over to visit. After watching an episode of Sam's favorite show, One Tree Hill, we walked down to Pinkberry. It is such an interesting concept. It tasted like frozen vanilla yogurt, but completely different. If that made sense! They have dozens of toppings to add in. I had the original Pinkberry flavor, blackberries, raspberries, and carob chocolate. The lady explained carob chocolate as the "healthy kind," whatever that means. Supposedly Pinkberry is popular because it is a healthy ice cream alternative. A medium size has like 150 calories and a small amount of fat.

My roommates are definately addicted to this place. Andrew and I think it is because the company injects nicotine or an equivalent into it. He was reading the recipe hasn't been FDA approved yet, so the nicotine injection concept could definately be legitimate! =) All in all, nicotine or not, I enjoyed the "dessert", I will definately go back again and suggest it to anyone along the way.

=)
