Work today was spent setting up for a big meeting tomorrow and working on my final projects. I have been enjoying my projects, but it gets confusing every now and then. I feel as if I have to contact so many people to get one thing done. I feel as if I am so unproductive. There are so many moving parts to my project. I have started to receive e-mails back, but I have so much to do before my time ends at MSLO.
After work I went out to eat with AJ and Chase from MSLO. We went to Spice, a thai restaurant in Chelsea. It was so good. I ate the chicken pad Thai and enjoyed a delicious lychee mojito. They were both so good. The mojito was a little bit different with the lychee, but it was nice to try.
After Spice, we randomly saw Joyce, another intern, walking down 8th avenue. She decided to join us on our post-MSLO excursion. After a bit of walking and confusing bars with weird happy hour times posted, we made it to Heartland Brewery where Chase, Joyce, and I split a six beer sample platter. We rated all of them and then did a blind taste testing. It was a lot of fun to hang out with these guys out of the office. We eat lunch every day together in the cafeteria, it was nice and different to see each outside the great walls of MSLO.
Leaving the Heartland Brewery in Union Square, Chase and I wanted to stay out a little bit longer. Instead of spending an outrageous amount of money at a bar, we decided to go to Trader Joes and buy a bottle or two of wine and sit in Union Square Park.
Sadly, Trader Joes was out of two-buck chuck chardonnay. We had to settle for a $4 bottle of wine. It was still really nice, so the night was enjoyable. It was a lot of fun sitting in Union Square Park. First of all it is my favorite neighboorhood in the city and secondly it was great to people watch. There were so many random people in the park, they were so amusing. Chase and I had a great time people watching and analysing all of their body language and turning it into our own mini stories.
Like the outdoor movie, sitting in the park is one of my favorite things to do in NYC. Chase and I were sitting in the serene park, but still knew we were in the city for we could feel the subways beneath us.
Chase is from Brooklyn, it was so interesting listening to how he grew up in the city. It is remarkable how different "city kids" lives are from small-town kids. While I think it would have been very interesting growing up in the city, I am grateful for where I came from. Clinton County diffently puts life into a different, but amazing perspective that not many people experience throughout life.
