so big, but so small

It took me awhile to get started today....that gym class made it really hard for me to climb out of my extremely high bunk bed.

Finally making it down, I finished my sandwich from yesterday and browsed the web and my book for Thursday events. Eventually I came across the Fashion Institute of Technology Museum and decided to go. It was so interesting! It was amusing to see how fashion has evolved throughout the years. I never realized how designers like Diana von Fursentberg, Chanel, and Betsie Johnson have been around so long.

I then visited the West Village/SoHo area. My 1001 Ideas book suggested shopping from Hudson to Bleecker. It was definitely fun to window shop. While I was there I stopped by Carrie's Sex and the City stoop between Perry and Bleecker. According to Robin if you go to the next block SJP lives there. I walked by, but wasn't sure. I definitely knew I found the SATC stoop because there were other people taking photos and there was a "no trespassing" sign. Pictures will be posted soon.

I then started walking down Bleecker and noticed an amazing smell. Looking at the sign I realized I was walking by Magnolia's....the famous cupcakery that was featured on SATC. Of course I had to get one! It tasted amazing, but i still think i'm a fan of Jilly's in STL.

I then continued to window shop wondering in and out of really expensive stores. I saw a limo outside of one, so of course I had to go to see who was there. Unfortunately I didn't recognize anyone, but I was offered a Fuji water in Coach. The guy/girl sales associate said my dress was fierce...so that was uplifting! =)

There were a lot of big name clothing and vintage stores on Bleecker. It seemed as if each store had a magazine clipping in the window stating they were featured in Elle, Cosmo, Vogue, etc. It is interesting how celebrities, TV shows, and magazines can make a store or fashion famous. SATC helped Magnolia grow overnight. Because of one episode, cupcakes are so popular.

Before going back to the apartment, I bought a bootleg version of the new Sex and the City movie for $5. The guy told me it was good quality, so of course I had to try it. He had so many other movies still in theaters, like Indiana Jones, 21, Made of Honor. Unfortunately while Alexis and I were watching the movie we realized it was a recording of the movie in the theaters. You could hear people eating and moving around. Oh well, i guess i have an odd version of the movie now.

Tonight I met up with Kathryn from WashU for dinner and drinks at Ta Cocina. They had decent cheap drinks (during happy hour) and good food. Kathryn and I split the fajitas. My favorite part of the restaurant was the tables. Below the glass it was sectioned of into four hallow parts. Each section had a different dried spice or pepper. It looked awesome! Definitely a project my mom would enjoy!

Kathryn actually works across the street from my apartment at an advertising firm. It is so funny how small NYC actually is. Her boyfriend, Whitney, actually works in the same building as MSLO. It was great to see Kathryn, it has been awhile since we caught up, I really hope we can hang out more this summer.

Supposedly everyone must run into familiar faces throughout the city. I think it has happened to my roommates a few times. I have my doubts about running into someone I know..but who knows, it has happened before in other random/smaller cities!
