Got off to a late start today...but it seemed to be a "productive" day.
Alexis, Ashley, Kerry and I went to Serendipity for a famous hot chocolate. Although I'm not a hot chocolate fan, this was amazing! We also split an order of hot wings. They were baked, not fried and so good! They were served with the most amazing blue cheese dressing ever! The drink was so big, definitely big enough for four of us. When it came to the bill, the waiter kindly told us that there is an $8.50 minimum per person. This is where the "is this a joke?!" mantra originated. It would have been nice for him to tell us that in the beginning. Luckily, we talked to the manager and he let us go without paying extra. I also have to let you know we had to wait 45 minutes to be seated. While it was fun to visit, I'm not sure I would go back again for a regular meal.
We then came back to the Herald Square area and shopped for awhile. Ashley and I shopped at Forever 21 and Steve Madden. I found some skirts and shoes for work. I hope to shop more tomorrow and find some key items.
Tonight we went to Alexis's friend Marty's apartment in Chelsea. I love this area! It is so much fun. I am so excited i get to work there! We then walked to the Mansion, but didn't go in because the promoter didn't text back. Therefore we took a cab to AZZA, a Moroccan night club. I've been enjoying experiencing new, hip places. When we walked up there was a huge line and the bouncers started shouting "we are closed for this night", therefore the "is this a joke" came into play since our promoter told us to come there. Fortunately, we were still able to surpass everyone are proceed. The decor was really nice, but the temperature was out of this world. I really felt as if I was in Morocco.
There was a Lamborghini parked in front of the club. Being the marketing person I am, I think it was planted there by the club to make it seem like an "ultra-hip" place. It was just a weird set-up. If i owned a car like that, I wouldn't leave it in front of 100 people to touch or look at all night.
After AZZA, the promoter suggested we go to American Trash. Supposedly this is one of the last "all-American" bars left in NYC. We were expecting an awesome band......instead we witnessed a weird, older bar. Once again "is this a joke?!" While it was fun, and the female bartender loved us (total tab for 4 drinks was $10) the clientele was extremely weird. It was a nice break from the club scene.
I am truly fortunate to have the roommates I have! I have been able to experience an exclusive NY scene. We can't wait for a few weeks when we know and understand the truly great areas of NY.
