I had a great time exploring the city today. I really wish my dad could have been here. I am trying to talk him into coming to visit...but not sure if it will happen. We chatted through Skype this morning. It was great to see him!

I originally planned to go to the Mets came today...but that fell through. Instead, Liz, her friend from college, and I went to Brooklyn. We visited the DUMBO (Down Under the Manhattan Brooklyn Overpass) Market, hung out in the park near the water, and went to the Cafe Bar for coffee. At the market, I bought pumpkin bread. I cannot wait to eat it tomorrow!

I loved the DUMBO area. It seems as if a lot of younger people lived there. I could definately see myself living there. It was so nice!

We originally planned to eat dinner in Brooklyn, but decided to go to Astoria. It was fun traveling from Brooklyn to Queens. Astoria is the Greek section of the NYC area. We ate at the Avenue Cafe. This restaurant was so much fun. I really enjoyed it because we could sit outside. The food was great, especially the antipasto appetizer. It included hummus, a roasted pepper feta spread, stuffed grape leaves, and warm pita break. I also enjoyed the frappe, the Greek version of an iced coffee. The restaurant was deceiving though because they didn't mention it was cash only. This restaurant was really nice with a high-tech computer system, how could it be cash only? Thankfully Liz had cash on her.

Riding back on the train was extremely exhausting. It was really nice to come back to the apartment and just relax with nothing to do. Liz and I enjoyed a good ol Lifetime movie.

I'm looking forward to my second week of work. Things should definately start making more sense!!

Have a fabulous week!

-Sam
