herself not only eating one bug, but multiple this weekend. With each new group of volunteers,
there is an unofficial initiation of eating bugs. Sam wanted to join in to video the experience for a project she is working on. She claims the feast of bees, silkworms, and bamboo bugs were much tastier than the large, scratchy grasshopper.Friday was our last time going to the Chaing Rai Night Bazaar - one of our favorite pastimes while volunteering. It's not only a favorite because of the change of scenery, but the combination of food, music, and most importantly, the people. After shopping, we all come together and sit at the yellow tables order tons of food, tubes of beer, and enjoy each other's company. The music is pretty good too! Being the last "night" in Chiang Rai, it probably was apporpriate to finish with the feast of bugs.
People may ask how we can eat bugs, we honestly didn't think we would do it either...but hey, when in Rome you do as the Romans do - or Thais in this matter!
Yuck...glad to know I can just in the backyard and find you some bugs and fry them up...heck with Super Valu...how about slugs? I am glad you are trying new things.
